EVERYTHING is on Facebook. Pretty fascinating.
ReplyDeleteReading into the whole history of creationism and evolution has been one of my side projects of late. I just read a good chapter in Jonathon Marks' new book. Interesting stuff, especially the history of the movement as a whole and how it has changed identities over time (from creation research to ID, etc).
Have you ever seen the NOVA documentary about the Dover, PA trial? Pretty much a slam dunk in that one with the ruling.
Yes, I have seen it. Pretty scathing, I agree, though I have to say that I do not think that we can go around deciding scientific questions in court. The ruling was specifically about whether it is okay or not to teach ID in schools. I personally do not think that extends to anything else.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I am not sure why these things keep ending up in court. Well, except for the fact that the Discovery Institute is doing all this on purpose. The whole "wedge" thing is frustrating.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I seriously cannot understand is how anyone falls for the idea that ID is SCIENCE. Why? How are people convinced of this? Ultimately, I don't even understand why the creationists are doing that. Why are they pushing all of this stuff as science? It seems pretty counter-productive.
Anyway, maybe I'm still all fired up after reading through the Amazon.com comments on Michael Behe's book. It's endless, I tell you.
